Up and coming singer, songwriter, and producer Emerson Brooks, hailing from a small town just 30 minutes north of Toronto, Canada, is standing out in the crowd of talented young acts currently emerging out of Toronto. Due to the success of Toronto musicians, all eyes and ears are now on the big city to the north. With industry reps and music lovers tuning into Toronto, Emerson Brooks’ is looking to leave his mark with his smooth R&B style.

As a young boy growing up in a musical family, Emerson Brooks was given every opportunity to listen to many different styles of music. He was able to explore and appreciate truly great talent. Musicians such as Ryan Leslie, Joni Mitchell, Common, A Tribe Called Quest, James Taylor, R. Kelly, The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Brian McKnight, D’angelo, and Lauryn Hill heavily influenced Emerson Brooks.

Emerson connected with his vocals at a very young age through the likes of choirs, school assembly’s, and participating in backup vocals for him family jazz band. As time progressed, Emerson began experimenting with instrumentals from Top 40, Underground R&B, and Soul. “I remember the first song I wrote when I was eleven years old. My grandmother, who was like a second mother to me, had just passed away and the emotion that came out of that song was like nothing I have ever expressed. Right there, I knew this [music] is what I wanted to do”. At the age of 16 Emerson began to venture into the Cool Edit Pro software. After recording close to 100 vocal tracks on top of successful musicians instrumentals, he decided that it was worth a try to begin producing his own music.

A family decision in 2006 led the Brooks family to build a small in-house studio. Ranging from R&B Soul, Hip Hop, Pop, Acoustic & Reggae, Emerson Brooks now has a library of about 600 songs. Emerson has written songs for an abundance of established musicians in the industry, both experienced and up-and-comers. Emerson has shared the stage with major acts such as Robin Thicke, Akon, Girlicious, Danny Fernandes, Dru, Kardinal Offishall, Karl Wolf, Enur, Ray J, Choclair, Classified, and more.
